If not requesting all participants to migrate to BIM immediately, what migration strategy would help to bring about that change? Focus on own individual discipline. What should be the aim for that single discipline? Who is involved and their responsibilities? For whom are the models intended? Assignment of roles and responsibilities, that define the ‘How’, ‘When’, ‘Why’, ‘To what level’, and ‘For what purpose’ issues What models are required? What range of discipline models is needed, and if an aggregate model is to be created, why is it required? When are they required? At what project stage are the models needed? What are the models to be used for? Uses of models: Visualization, Data extraction, Document production, Simulation and Analysis What data is needed in the models and at what level of detail? How will the models be exchanged and in what format? Who is managing the process? Is there a need for a project BIM manager? Location of project team participants – eg. Co-location in project office What risks are involved and how can they be addressed? Thus there is a need for a something like a ‘BIM Execution Plan’ (BEP)
