When selecting an on-load tap-changer the maximum load at the tap selector must be verified in order to avoid the associated rated withstand voltages being exceed. Without change-over selector With reversing switch With coarse tap selector in (+) - position With coarse tap selector in (-) - position CAUTION The maximum rated lightning withstand impulse voltage loads at a0 in the center positi- on must be taken into account! a0 = between selected and preset diverter switch tapping. a1 = between fine tap selector contacts of the winding for one step (closed or open) a = between start and end of a fine tap changer winding; for versions with coarse tap changer winding also between start and end of a coarse tap changer winding. Note for coarse tapping in (-) position of the change-over selector: For loads involving impulse voltage the permitted withstand voltage "a" between the end of a coarse tap changer win- ding connected to fine tap selector contact K and the fine tap selector contact at the end of the fine tap changer win- ding of the same phase must be taken into account. b = between the fine tap selector contacts for different phases and between change-over selector contacts for different phases connected to the start / end of a fine tap changer winding or a fine tap selector contact. f = between diverter switch lead and ground Additionally for coarse tapping in ( + ) position of the change-over selector: c1 = from a ( - ) change-over selector contact to the lead for the same phase. c2 = between ( - ) change-over selector contacts for different phases. M I 1503 with coarse tap selector (up to 5 coarse taps) Fine voltage regulation requires a large number of operating positions that may necessitate a multiple coarse tapping arrangement. For example, with a 5-stage coarse winding and a fine tap changer winding with 18 tappings, 107 operating positions can be achieved. The coarse tap selector is attached to both sides of the fine tap selector. The on-load tap-changers are available for Um = 72.5... 300 kV and for 2... 5 coarse taps (tap selector size B, C and D). Multiple coarse tap selector a0 = between selected and preset diverter switch tapping a1 = between fine tap selector contacts of the winding for one step (closed or open) a = between start and end of a fine tap changer winding and between the closed K-contact and any points of the fine tap changer winding for the same phase b = between the fine tap selector contacts for different pha- ses and between the closed K-contact of a phase and any points of the fine tap changer winding for another phase c1 = between any coarse tappings for a phase and the diver- ter switch lead for the same phase c2 = between corresponding open coarse tappings for diffe- rent phases d1 = between closed and adjacent coarse change-over selec- tor contact in a phase d2 = between open adjacent coarse change-over selector contacts in a phase d3 = between start and end of all coarse taps in a phase f = between diverter switch lead and ground Figure 14 Designation and definition of the insulation distances (8997940D) Insulation distances Tap selector size B Tap selector size C Tap selector size D kV kV kV kV kV kV 1,2I50 50 Hz 1,2I50 50 Hz 1,2I50 50 Hz 1 min. 1 min. 1 min. a0 90 20 90 20 90 20 a1 150 30 150 30 150 30 a 265 50 350 82 450 105 b1) 265 50 350 82 450 146 c1 455 127 525 165 590 210 c21) 455 127 525 165 590 215 d1 265 50 350 82 450 105 d2 350 82 450 105 450 105 d3 350 82 450 105 490 120 1) Insulation distance not applicable for single-pole on-load tap-changers Figure 15 On-load tap-changer OILTAP®M with multiple coarse tap selector, rated withstand voltages of the internal on-load tap-changer insulation Operating Instructions BA 050/03 OILTAP®M The copying, distribution and utilization of this document as well as the communication of its contents to others without expressed authorization is prohibited. Parallel bridges at the tap selector terminals are required if the tap winding is wound in two or more strands and each of these strands taps into terminal contacts of the tap selector. This measure reliably prevents a) carry-over of compensating currents into the tap selector and diverter switch circuits b) arc occurring during commutation at moved tap selector contact bridges c) overvoltages between adjacent tap selector terminals connected in parallel 3.2 On-load tap-changer OILTAP®M I 603 and M I 803 with 3-sector diverter switch On-load tap-changer models M I 603 and M I 803 @@ are supplied with a 3-sector diverter switch, if required. This results in a higher step capacity (see Fig. 10) and/or a higher contact life of the arc-carrying diverter switch contacts. The on-load tap-changers are equipped with a special diverter switch. The tap change operation sequence and the dimensioning of the transition resistors are adapted to an operating frequency of 16 2/3 Hz (technical data are available on request). 3.4 Two-pole on-load tap-changer OILTAP®M II 352/502/602 On-load tap-changer M II 352/502/602 is available as a two-pole on-load tap-changer for single-phase center-tap connection with technical specifications corresponding to on-load tap-changer M III 350 Y, M III 500 Y or M III 600 Y (see dimensional dra- wings, section 4). On-load tap-changer combination for delta connection (example) On-load tap-changer M II 352 can also be used in conjunction with single-pole on-load tap-changer M I 351 as a two-column on-load tap-changer combination (M I 351/M II 352) for voltage regulation of transformer windings with delta connection (cor- respondingly with M I 501/M II 502 and M I 601/M II 602). This combination is referred to as M III K, see Figure 17. The tap windings must be based on Figure 17. The on-load tap-changers are available for Um = 72.5... 300 kV and several tap selector sizes (rated withstand voltages and di- mensional drawings are available on request).
