This is called a rebuttal. In a rebuttal you make a counter-argument that refutes an opponent's claims. You and your partner both need to prepare a rebuttal. Sign In to OneDrive and Open the Debate in PowerPoint Online Find a Weakness in your Opponents Argument Read each argument made by your opponent. You need to find a weakness in their argument. o Are there other facts that disprove their argument? o Have they exaggerated or over-simplified the issue? o Can you find survey or poll results to show they are wrong? o Could there be other causes or reasons that have been over-looked? o Is their plan weak in a particular area? o Did they ignore an important point? o Is one of their arguments illogical? Use the Internet to Locate Facts to Disprove Opponent's Argument (Optional) LEAVE THE PRESENTATION OPEN. Click New tab in the browser window. In the address bar, type in a search engine address. Press ENTER. Type the topic name into the Search box. Click Search. Pick a search result about your topic. Scan to find a fact you need. Can you find a fact that proves that your opponent is wrong? Place it near the end of the debate.
