- T- Transverse abdominis - I- Internal obliques - R- Rectus abdominis - E- External obliques These are the primary muscle groups that make up the core and allow our bodies to have stability, movement, and strength in the abdominal region. The transverse abdominis is the deepest layer, providing stability, while the internal and external obliques and rectus abdominis work together for flexion, rotation, and side bending of the torso. -When the head responds to contraction of the right sternocleidomastoid muscle it creates certain movements of the head like rotation and flexion. The sternocleidomastoid muscle rotates the head to left; this happens because the muscles pull your head towards the opposite side. SCM helps with our bodies to have flexion in the neck. When the right muscle contracts the head tilts to the right, it pulls the muscle to the shoulder on your same side. The contraction of the right SCM results in the head rotating to the left, tilting to the right, and flexing the head forward. -The muscles used in respiration are the diaphragm, intercostal muscles, pectoralis muscles, rectus muscles, transversus muscles, and the neck muscles. \- The arrangement of the abdominal muscles makes the abdominal wall strong because it ensures that the abdominal region can support trunk movement, keep posture, protect internal organs, and withstand external forces, making it an essential of overall body strength.
