# AERODYNAMICS Aerodynamics is the study of how air moves around things. The rules of aerodynamics apply to anything that moves in air. Aerodynamics explains how an airplane, kite, or rocket are able to fly. Aerodynamics also acts on cars, as the air flows around cars while they are driven. When something is able to move easily through air, it can be described as aerodynamic. The most aerodynamically efficient shape is a teardrop. A teardrop has a rounded nose and tapers toward the back. Many things that move are teardrop shaped, such as planes, helicopters, race cars, and blimps. Draw a teardrop shape around the vehicles below to highlight their aerodynamic shape. Explain why a teardrop shape is aerodynamic.
