Philippine Regulation Commission - a significant governmental body in the Philippines, responsible for regulating and licensing various professions to ensure standards of competency and ethical practice. Its mandate is to regulate and supervise the practice of the professionals (except lawyers) who constitute the highly skilled manpower of the country. As the agency-in-charge of the professional sector, the PRC plays a strategic role in developing the corps of professionals for industry, commerce, governance and the economy. The PRC was established by Presidential Decree No. 223 on March 1, 1973. The PRC's mission is to promote and maintain professional standards in various fields, ensuring that practitioners adhere to ethical and professional guidelines. Functions and Responsibilities - Licensing and Registration O Licensure Examinations administers exams for various professions to assess qualifications and competence. O Issuance of Licenses -- issues licenses to individuals who pass the required examinations and Meet the qualifications for different professions. - Reguiation and Standards O Setting Standards establishes professional standards and guidelines for practice in different fields. O Continuing Professional Development (CPD) -- requires licensed professionals to engage in CPD activities to ensure ongoing competency and skill enhancement. - Ethical and Profession al Conduct O Code of Ethics enforces a code of ethics for each profession to uphold integrity and professionalism. O Disciplinary Actions -- investigates and addresses violations of professional conduct, including complaints and disciplinary cases. - Policy and Planning O Regulatory Policies -develops and implements policies to improve professional practice and adapt to evolving industry needs. (SEAD) - Specialist Union for Creative Civil Engineering Education in the Philippines (SUCCEED) CHAPTERS - The general membership of the institute, except for the honorary and student members, was organized into autonomous chapters composed of members residing or having principal sites of business in the area to be served by the chapter, Every province in the Philippines has their own regular chapter, and every region have their own. Regional Coordinator who serves as the region's representative in the National Chapter. - Fostering closer association among members in an area or locality; - Encouraging the members to prepare and discuss papers on the study of civil engineering problems in that area or locality; and - Encouraging the cooperation with other allied engineering, technical or scientific groups in the area or locality in matters of common interest. b\) Student Chapter The institute supports the formation of student chapters in engineering institutions in order to - Encourage civil engineering students to work together in fellowship and dedication to Science and Technology, - Enhance and improve civil engineering standards, curricula and facilities in schools, - Provide encouragement, guidance and leadership to civil engineering students, and - Promote association of civil engineering students with the members of the civil engineering profession The regular chapters are tasked to supervise all student chapters organized in their areas and ald them in their undertakings. c\) International Chapter - Upon the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to the amended By-laws (November 25, 1999), the formation of international chapters was made possible. The chapters, which are based on other countries, is a manifestation of the institute's commitment to reach out to Filipino civil engineers around the world and to establish a more concrete point of union for Filipino civil engineers.
