Kenehary Kasym was the last Khan of the Kazakh Khanate. "Zheti Zhargy" is a set of laws. Tauke Khan is the author (of the law). Turkey was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan's independence. The Kazakhstan People's Assembly was founded on 1 March 1995. On 10 October 1997, the capital was moved to Astana from Akmola. Kazakhstan became a member of the United Nations on 2 March 1992. Kazakhstan's national anthem was adopted on 6 January 2007. The Constitution of Kazakhstan states that the people are the sole source of state power in the republic.
