The first Indian woman to get an aviation pilot licence and fly an aircraft. 2. She was the first Indian-born American woman to go to space. She lost her life in 2003 when the space shuttle Columbia was re-entering the Earth's atmosphere at the conclusion of a mission. 3. Called the Iron Lady of Manipur, she holds the record for the longest hunger strike (16 years), demanding that the Government repeal the act that gave the Indian Army special powers in Manipur. 4. Holder of an MBA degree, she left her corporate job to become the first woman sarpanch of India in Soda, a village 60 kms from Jaipur. 5. This banker is the first woman chairperson of the State Bank of India. 6. She was the first Indian woman to climb Mt Everest, in 1984. 7. She achieved this by winning the 400 m event at the World Under-20 Championship in 2018. A gifted footballer as well, she won five international gold medals in July 2019. She is UNICEF India's first ever youth ambassador.
