This process is called gentrification in neighbourhoods close to the city center. # A Sustainable Future in Urban Regions For cities to offer a pleasant environment for living and working in the future, they need to be more sustainable. Cities should: * Discourage car use (cars cause pollution, noise congestion, and unsafe situations). * Promote alternatives like frequent bus, tram, and light rail connections, safe cycling, and walking. * Convert parking spaces to green spaces. * Plant more trees as they provide shade, cool the environment through evaporating water, and absorb water, helping prevent flooding. * Insulate older homes and install solar panels.
