TRI-COMMISSIONING On January 15, 2025,Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built naval vessels-INS Surat, INS Nigiri, and INS Vaghsheer- at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. This historic tri-commissioning, the first of it’s kind, underscores Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited’s (MDL) advanced shipbuilding capabilities and India’s commitment to self- reliance in defense manufacturing. The addition of these state-of-the-art combatants significantly enhances India’s maritime security, reflecting the nation’s growing prowess in indigenous defense production MAJOR EVENTS Delivery of Fourth Destroyer of the P15B Class ‘SURAT’ to Indian Navy on 20th December 2024. MAJOR EVENTS Delivery of First Stealth Frigate of the P17A Class ‘NILGIRI’ to Indian Navy on 20th December 2024. MAJOR EVENT MOD inks Rs 1,990 crore contract with MDL for construction of Air Independent Propulsion Plug for DRDO-AIP system & its integration into conventional submarines to enhance their endurance. The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi on December 30, 2024.
