It breaks down each of the petitions, asking questions and exploring interpretations. ## The First Petition: Hallowed be thy name * **Hallow:** to make Holy * **Question:** What's this trying to teach us about God's name? * **Answer:** We want all people to know God's name is Holy. * **Connection to Commandments:** Which of the 10 Commandments is this similar to? 2nd; name in vein ## The Second Petition: Thy kingdom come * **Two Kingdoms:** There are two kingdoms referred to... * **Kingdom of grace (heaven):** Those with a relationship with the King based on grace. * **Kingdom on earth (church):** We want so many people to come to your kingdom of glory in heaven * **Question:** What are we really saying in this petition? * **Answer:** We want God's kingdom (glory) to come to earth through His people ## The Third Petition: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven * **Question:** What is God's will? * **Answer:** Saving everyone, no one in hell —doesn't always happen since we have free will—"God you know whats best." * **Question:** What does Jesus want us to realize when we pray this petition? * **Answer:** All things come from him. He provides our needs * **Connection to Stories:** To what Old Testament story does this relate? —Israelites in the wilderness—Mannah ## The Fourth Petition: Give us this day our daily bread * **Question:** What does Jesus want us to realize when we pray this petition? * **Answer:**All things come from him; He provides our needs. * **What God Provides:** God provides enough to share.
