# Chapter 2: Pharmaceutical Institutions **1. Definition** * **Article 10:** Pharmaceutical institutions, as per this law, include public and private pharmacies; pharmaceutical preparation factories; drug warehouses; intermediaries' warehouses; and shops dealing in medicinal plants and their extracts. **2. General Provisions for All Pharmaceutical Institutions** * **Article 11:** Establishing a pharmaceutical institution requires a license from the Ministry of Public Health. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. If the license is transferred to someone who is not legally competent, the new applicant must apply to the Ministry of Public Health to transfer the license. The applicant should meet the conditions stipulated by this law. * **Article 12:** Application for a license to the Ministry of Public Health must be on a form provided by the Ministry, submitted by registered mail, along with the following: 1. Certificate of identity. 2. Birth certificate or equivalent document. 3. Three architectural drawings of the proposed institution. 4. Receipt for a fee of 5 Egyptian pounds. If the application is complete, it is entered into a register, and a receipt, including the application's registration date, is issued to the applicant. * **Article 13:** The architectural drawings are sent to the relevant health authority for inspection. The ministry will communicate its decision on the location of the institution within 30 days of registration. Failure to respond within this time frame implies approval, unless the provisions of Article 30, paragraph 2, of this law are violated. If the inspection reveals that the required health standards have been met, the license is issued within 30 days; otherwise, the applicant is given time to meet the standards; a second extension might be granted, but not exceeding half of the first. If the standards are not fulfilled in the end, the license application is denied. * **Article 14:** Licenses for institutions under this law can be revoked in the following cases: 1. If the institute is closed continuously for over one year. **Page 3**
