HOFFMAN ESTATES FIRE DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES SOG Category & Identification Number: EFFECTIVE DATE: RESPONSE GUIDELINES – 009 September 1, 2023 NIMS COMPLIANT SOG Title: Accident with Personal Injury (ACPI) Revision: 8 APPROVED BY: NUMBER OF PAGES: Re-evaluation Date: Alan Wax January 1, 2026 Fire Chief 2 PURPOSE The purpose of this guideline is to provide standardized and predetermined responses to all incidents classified as an Accident with Personal Injury (ACPI) by Northwest Central Dispatch (NWCD). POLICY It shall be the policy of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department to follow this guideline. However, it may be altered to achieve a more appropriate response based on information received from NWCD or to achieve a faster response based on location and/or status of fire department apparatus and personnel. PROCEDURE A. For all motor vehicle accidents without entrapment, the response will be as follows: District 21 Eng. 21, Amb. 21 and Squad 22 District 22 Eng. 22, Amb. 22 and Squad 22 District 23 Eng. 23, Amb. 23 and Squad 22 District 24 Eng. 24, Amb. 24 and Squad 22 Note: This is the basic response; CAD may replace the district EMS unit if there is a closer EMS unit available. 1 B. For all motor vehicle accidents without entrapment on the I90 Tollway, the response will be as follows: Westbound 56.1 – 59.25 Eng. 24, Squad 22, Twr. 22, Amb. 24 and Bat 6 Eastbound 58.5 – 62.5 Eng. 24, Squad 22, Twr. 22, Amb. 24 and Bat 6 Westbound 59.25 – 61.8 Eng. 22, Squad 22, Twr. 22, Amb. 22 and Bat 6 Eastbound 62.5 – 66.0 Eng. 22, Squad 22, Twr. 22, Amb. 22 and Bat 6 Notification: If the State Police are not on the scene, the Incident Commander is responsible to have NWCD notify State Police District 15 that an incident has taken place on the tollway and give them a brief description of the emergency. DEFINITIONS An Accident with Personal Injury is defined as any call involving a vehicle with the report of personal injury. EXCEPTIONS Where MABAS Illinois Policies and Procedures current online reference or MABAS 1 Operating Guidelines/Policy Statements are in conflict with HEFD Standard Operating Guidelines, HEFD Standard Operating Guidelines will take precedence.
