Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District Policy & Procedures Handbook 505 Use of Tobacco Products Effective Date: 7/12/2010 Revision Date: There shall not be smoking or other use of tobacco products on or in any department vehicle. Except for designated rest and relaxation areas, or with the direct authorization of an officer, there shall be no smoking or other use of tobacco products on emergency scenes or at other official department functions, or when a member of the general public is present. All District buildings are designated as "NO SMOKING" buildings and the use of all tobacco products is prohibited, except as specifically permitted. The specific provisions include: The use of tobacco products during any meeting is prohibited. The provisions of using tobacco products applies to all occupants, whether they are employees, members, or guest. The smoking of cigarettes may be permitted in a limited number of specified areas, Memo #112 is amended to include apparatus bay only. Other rules and requirements may be promulgated to regulate the use of designated smoking or tobacco use areas. All full-time employees of the Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, who are first employed on or after December 10, 1990, shall enter into a non-use of tobacco product agreement with the District as a condition of employment. The agreement shall prohibit the employee from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or using other tobacco products, on or off duty, while employed by the District. Violations of the employment contract could result in disciplinary action up to, and including, termination. Page 68 of 145
