# El relieve ## Processes that form the relief **1.1 Internal Processes** The Earth is a very active planet, constantly destroying and creating its crust by expelling mantle materials through oceanic ridges and volcanoes. It creates folds, faults, and mountain ranges from the collision of its plates. These internal geological processes develop due to the action of internal energy accumulated on the planet, which causes the movement and collision of tectonic plates. In this way, different reliefs are generated on the surface of the continents and in the ocean floors. - **Oceanic ridges**: Mountain ranges that extend thousands of kilometers across the ocean floors, with elevations exceeding 3000 meters above the seabed. - **Ocean trenches**: Very deep and narrow fissures that form when a plate is pushed beneath another. - **Rift**: A crust fissure affecting the surface of the continents due to the separation of two tectonic plates. - **Faults**: - **Volcanoes**: ## Diagram of Earth's layers A diagram illustrating different layers of the earth is included. It shows the following layers: * **Continental crust**: The top layer, brownish-green. * **Oceanic crust**: The bottom layer, brownish-orange. * **Mantle**: The layer below the crust, orange-red in color. * **Zone of crust creation**: Indicated with an arrow pointing up, showing regions where new crust is formed. * **Zone of crust destruction**: Indicated with an arrow pointing down, showing regions where crust is destroyed. Arrows show movement of continental and oceanic plates, and there are also depictions of mountain ranges, earthquakes, and volcanoes. ## Activities **1.** Find the meaning of the terms "endogenous" and "exogenous" related to geology and give synonyms for each. **2.** Find the definitions of landscape and relief, and indicate the differences between the two. **3.** Observe the figure and create a diagram that differentiates the reliefs generated in areas of crust creation from those generated in areas of crust destruction. **Note**: The document also includes questions related to the study of landscapes and reliefs.
