Introduction 2 Morphological and structural features of tooth Surfaces of teeth division of tooth surface into thirds line angles and point angles Anatomical landmarks of the crown Dr . SAID ABDELGHANY / 01061999121 1-Morphological and Structural Features of the Tooth: Root - anterior teeth Each tooth has -All molars -premolar except -maxillary first - Maxillary first - premolar (U4) premolar (U4) Root trunk : The undivided portion of the root trunk crown Multiple roots Bifurcation dividing the root portion into two roots - maxillary first premolar - mandibular molars Trifurcation dividing the root portion into three roots - maxillary molars alveolus/ tooth socket The portion of the alveolar process into which the roots are set Crypt The portion of the alveolar process into which the teeth are set The tooth made up of Four tissues: Three calcified tissues: 1.Enamel 2.Dentin 3.Cementum One soft specialized tissue: Pulp Tooth structure: Enamel dentin ‫ال بيغطي ال‬ Crown ‫ف ال‬ The hard, mineralized tissue that covers the dentin of the anatomical crown of a tooth. It is the hardest living body tissue Dentin ‫اكبرجزء من السنه متغطي في‬ enamel ‫ ب‬crown ‫ال‬ Root ‫ومتغطي ف ال‬ Cementum ‫ب‬ The hard tissue which constitutes the main bulk of the tooth. It surrounds the pulp cavity and is covered by the enamel in the anatomical crown and by the cementum in the anatomical root. Pulp cavity : Cementum ‫اللي بيغطي ال‬ Dentin Root ‫ف‬ Pulp ‫هو العصب‬ The layer of hard, bonelike tissue that covers the dentin of the anatomical root of a tooth The living soft tissue that occupies the pulp cavity of a vital tooth. It contains the tooth's nutrient supply in the form of blood vessels as well as the nerve supply. The pulp cavity has a coronal portion [pulp chamber] and a radicular portion [root canal(s)]. ANATOMICAL AND CLINICAL CROWN AND ROOT : Anatomical crown : part of the tooth normally covered by enamel Enamel ‫جزء من السنه اللي متغطي بال‬ Anatomical root : part of the tooth normally covered by cementum . Cementum ‫جزء من السنه اللي متغطي بال‬ Clinical crown : the amount of tooth visible in the oral cavity Oral cavity ‫الجزء اللي بنشوفه من السنه ظاهر في ال‬ Anatomical root : the amount of tooth not visible in oral cavity Oral cavity ‫الجزء اللي مش بشوفه من ال‬ Gingival Recession Newly Erupted Teeth Clinical crown > anatomical crown Clinical crown < anatomical crown Clinical root < anatomical root Clinical root > anatomical root JUNCTION OF TOOTH TISSUES : Cementoenamel junction (cervical line) separates the enamel of the crown from the cementum of the root crown ‫الخط اللي بيفصل ال‬ Root ‫عن ال‬ Dentinoenamel junction: Cementodentin junction separates the enamel from the underlying dentin enamel ‫الخط اللي بيفصل ال‬ Dentine ‫عن ال‬ separates the cementum lining the anatomical root from the dentin of the root dentine ‫الخط اللي بيفصل ال‬ Cementum ‫عن ال‬ 2- Surfaces of teeth : (DISCUSSED PREVIOUSLY) … 3-division of the tooth surface into thirds : For descriptive purposes, tooth surfaces could be divided horizontally or vertically into thirds Thirds are named according to their location. 4- line angles & point angles : Used to aid in the description of a tooth LINE ANGLES OF ANTERIOR TEETH (6 IN NUMBER ) : LINE ANGLES OF POSTERIOR TEETH ( 8 IN NUMBER ) : POINT ANGLES OF POSTERIOR TEETH (4 IN NUMBERS) : POINT ANGLES OF POSTERIOR TEETH ( 4 IN NUMBERS ) : Dr . SAID ABDELGHANY / 01061999121
