# American Society of Radiologic Technologist ## Code of Ethics **Preamble** This Code of Ethics is a guide for Radiologic Technologists to evaluate their professional conduct regarding patients, colleagues, other allied health professionals, and health care consumers. The Code is not law, but intended to promote ethical conduct. Therefore, Radiologic Technologists, as members of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, accept the following principles: **Principle 1** Radiologic Technologists shall conduct themselves with dignity. **Principle 2** Radiologic Technologists provide services considering the human dignity and uniqueness of each patient, regardless of age, sex, race, creed, social/economic status, handicap, personal attributes, or the nature of their health problem. **Principle 3** Radiologic Technologists shall protect patients from unnecessary radiation. **Principle 4** Radiologic Technologists should exercise independent judgment in their professional service and accept responsibility for their actions. **Principle 5** Radiologic Technologists shall protect patient privacy and maintain all patient information confidentially.
