# Basic Security Procedures **How to Spot a Counterfeit Bill** * **Paper:** The paper is rough when you run your finger across it. It does not glow under ultraviolet light. * **Portrait:** The silhouette of the portrait appears sharp, and the details of the lighting and shadows are clear when the note is viewed against light. * **Thread:** A narrow thread is vertically located across the note with "clear text" of the numerical sequence. Color changes from magenta to other colors depending on the angle of view for 200s, 500s, and 1000s. * **Iridescent Band:** An improved version of the 100s note has a wide iridescent band with numerical values printed in series. * **Impressions:** The impressions of the different designs are sharp and distinct. The fingers can readily feel the raised designs of the relatively new notes because of the relatively thick ink deposited on the note. * **Portrait:** The portrait appears life-like with facial expressions. Serial numbers are in letters and six to seven digits, well-aligned. They glow. * **Background:** The background design is made up of defined lines, a crisscrossing pattern, and a vignette with lines and dashes that are fine-tuned for color tone to give a vivid look. **How to Stay Calm During a Robbery** * **Stay calm:** Do not panic or argue during a robbery. * **Do exactly what you are told:** Follow the robbers' instructions. * **Give the robbers what they want:** Do not resist. * **Do not do anything that would put you or anyone else in danger:** Avoid escalating the situation. * **Do not argue or hesitate; do not pursue; do not stare:** Maintain a calm demeanor. * **Study the appearance and actions of the robbers:** Note details like height, weight, age, eye color, hair, skin coloring, clothing, foreign or regional accents, restaurant layout knowledge, fast food terminology, use of restaurant keys, method and direction of escape, the vehicle make, model, color, and license plate number. **Do Not Give Away Food or Information** * **Never give away food to friends or people you know** Intentionally giving away food is considered theft and results in disciplinary action. * **Security procedures and money procedures are confidential:** Do not disclose information related to security procedures or financial activities. If questioned, say that you do not know the answer. **Authorized Personnel Only** * **Extra people cause confusion:** Extra people create distractions, which can cause disruption to employees and are an opportunity for criminals. * **Don't go behind the counter if you are not working:** Do not invite friends to the workplace, to avoid criminal opportunities. * **Ask for a company ID:** When someone wants to enter the kitchen, ask for a company ID with a picture. If the requester cannot show you an ID, get your manager.
