Basic Radar Principals b. ATCR-33 Antenna c. ATCR-33 Transmitter 2. **[Background]: A good knowledge of basic Radar and Computer Technology.** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. **[Module Outcome]: On completion of this module the learner should know the basic outlay and operation of the ATCR-33 receiver and receiver synchronisation.** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. **[Detailed Learning Objectives:] Upon completion of this module the student should know the basic ATCR-33 syncronisation** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. 5. 2. 3. 6. 4. All the information about the ATCR 33 system was obtained from the technical manual GP NO: 5D/557. ATCR Air traffic control radar technical manual Vol. 1 to 6 and GP NO: 5D/558 - Azimuth Trigger and Signal Distribution Unit Technical manual. 7. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 8. 9. 11. 12. 10. **Formal Instructional Time: [ ]** 11. **Assessment Reference: [ ]** 13. **[Attainment Requirement:]** ----------------------------------------- 12. ### **Theory: 90%** 13. Practical: - 2. INSTRUCTIONS 14. ### Before starting this module ask your mentor to physically show and explain to you the various equipment and their positions and functions with respect to the entire system. 14. The student is advised to ask his/her mentor to physically show the equipment and their relative locations in order to get a better picture of the various systems that appear in the block diagram. When you are in doubt about anything ask your mentor for advice. 15. The student must be accompanied by his/her mentor or qualified personnel at all times when doing practical training. He/she should not tamper with any equipment as this could lead to interruption of the flying program when the during air traffic control. 16. After completion of this module answer the self-test at the back of the module. 3. **MODULE INFORMATION** 15. This module contains the information in regards to the ATCR-33 receiver synchronisation. 16. It is important for a student to know how the various equipment are interconnected to form the entire radar system, so that when the student is busy with a module on a specific piece of equipment they know where it fits in the system. 17. Familiarize yourself with the Basic Radar System Block diagram and make sure you know where all the systems and equipment are physically situated as well as their basic function or purpose in the system. 4. **RECEIVER SYNCHRONIZATION SYSTEM** 18. INTRODUCTION The synchronization system provides the various clocks, triggers, gates and generally speaking all the necessary signals for a correct operation of the Radar. In order to extend the synchronization system to all ATCR versions, some parameters are adjustable, namely: - Quartz oscillator frequency - PRF - Stagger sequence - The delay of individual auxiliary triggers. - Clock and trigger generator - Auxiliary triggers and gates generator - Video rom destagger - Video stagger - Pre trigger generator - Trigger and pre trigger drivers - Diversity normalizer and drivers
