# Epilepsy **What is it?** Epilepsy is a condition where sudden bursts of electrical activity in the brain cause seizures. **Possible Symptoms:** * Seizures, including uncontrollable shaking * Loss of awareness of things around you * Loss of consciousness or losing awareness * Difficulty with activities and speech **Causes:** * Sometimes it is not clear what causes epilepsy. It can run in families. * Head injury can contribute to the condition. * The main treatment for epilepsy is medicine. **Cerebral Palsy:** Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions affecting movement. It is often present from before or during infancy, caused by damage to the developing brain. Symptoms vary and often include exaggerated reflexes. The child often has difficulty with posture and developing physical skills. Symptoms may appear before preschool years.
