Virgilio Senadrin Almario (born March 9, 1944), better known by his pen name Rio Alma, is a Filipino artist, poet, critic, translator, editor, teacher, and cultural manager. He is a National Artist of the Philippines and currently serves as the chairman of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), the government agency mandated to promote and standardize the use of the Filipino language. On January 5, 2017, Almario was also elected as the chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. =RENE VILLANUEVA John Iremil Teodoro He is the author of more than 12 books and his collection of short essays Pagmumuni-muni at Pagtatalak ng Sirenang Nagpapanggap na Prinsesa won the National Book Award from the Manila Critics Circle and the National Book Development Board. Teodoro is also a scholar of Hiligaynon Literature. REGION 9 Antonio Reyes Enriquez was born in Barangay Labuan, Zamboanga city in 1936. Currently he and his wife, with their five grandchildren were living in Cagayan de Oro City but then he died at the age of 78 in 2014. He is a Filipino author of many different interesting books of short stories and novels and one of those is the Green Sanctuary. He has been published in his homeland, the Philippines and abroad. Hailing from the City of Flowers of Southern Philippines, Emigdio Alvarez Enriquez, better known as Mig is an accomplished writer of his time. He started writing at the age of 20 while under the supervision of the Jesuits of Ateneo de Zamboanga. Soon after, he achieved his degree in Bachelor of Arts at Arellano University, finishing college as a budding author. The Devil Flower and House of Images are his works. REGION 10 Anthony L. Tan was listed in the Encyclopedia of Philippine Arts and Artists for his significant contribution to the Philippine literary scene, as he has authored two book poems, “The Badjao Cemetery and Other Poems” and “Poems for Muddas.” "Literature matters because it is universal". The poet, literary critic, and translator Ralph Semino Galan is also a teacher. He teaches at the University of Santo Tomas teaching literature, humanities, and writing subjects. He is a graduate of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in AB English (major in Literature). From the Major Arcana is his literary works. REGION 11 Candy Gourlay was born in Manila during the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos; after working as a journalist for some years, she moved to the UK in her twenties. Candy is now a full-time writer across a range of medium; short stories, blogs, websites, journalistic features and radio programmes. TALL STORY is Candy’s first full- length published novel. Other literary works are Shine, Bone Talk and Oxford Reading Tree. REGION 12- SOCCSKSARGEN Christine G. Ortega was the Head of the National Literary Arts Committee, Secretary of the Sub-Commission on the Arts, Director of the Iligan National Writers Workshop, and Director of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology(MSU-IIT) Office of Publication and Information (OPI). Lanterns in the Sun and Other Poems is her all time favorite literary piece. REGION 13 or CARAGA Joey Ayala is a Filipino singer, songwriter and former chairman of the music committee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. His music combines the sounds of Filipino ethnic instruments with modern pop music. Karaniwang Tao is his popular song. He is a contemporary pop music artist in the Philippines. He is well known for his style of music that combines the sounds of Filipino ethnic. Paz Márquez-Benítez (March 3, 1894 – November 10, 1983) was a Filipino short-story writer, educator and editor. Her career as a woman educator as well as her contributions as a writer are seen as an important step within the advancement of women in professional careers as well as in the development of Philippine literature. She was also a beauty queen. She is most known by her short story Dead Stars (1925) in which the two main characters are displayed as allegories to American imperialism in order to portray the slow decay of Philippine heritage. Her only other known published work is A Night in the Hills (1925). CAR REGION It is the only land-locked region of the Philippines. The region consists of the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Apayao. The regional center is the Chartered City of Baguio, officially known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines. Maria Luisa Aguilar-Carino a U.S Citizen, born in Baguio and she is one of the most famous writer in this region. Some of the famous literary works of this region are Hudhud (epic), Ullalim (ballad), Dangdang-Ay (song), The Giantess and Three Children (short story), Wedding Dance (short story), Agga a ya agge a (song), Canao (ritual)and Tuingguian Flood Myth (myth). CAR REGION Born in 1980 and raised almost all his life in Baguio City, Dion Michael Fernandez has both a Bachelor's Degree in English and Literature and a Master's Degree in Language Education at Saint Louis University, where he was recognized as "Maker of Myths" in the Mandala Literary Society. Heavily armed and equipped with a vested, almost obsessive, interest in world mythology, ancient cultures and urban folklore, his literary style reflects an eccentric combination of fact, fantasy, Gothicism and cosmopolitan modernism; in fact, a number of his works contain subliminal messages. Currently he helps manage and contributes to Ravenloft: the Fraternity of Shadows, an international Gothic literary and game community, where he is known as "Lurker Maximus." ARMM REGION 1. Leonor Orosa-Goquingco (July 24, 1917 - July 15, 2005) was a 1976 Filipino national artist in creative dance. She could play the piano, draw, design scenery and costumes, sculpt, act, direct, dance and choreograph. Her pen name was Cristina Luna and she was known as Trailblazer, Mother of Philippine Theater Dance and Dean of Filipino Performing Arts Critics. 2. Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat (also spelled Qudarat or Corallat) (1581–1671) was a Sultan of Maguindanao. During his reign, he successfully opposed the Spaniards who attempted to conquer his land and hindered the Christianization of the island of Mindanao. He was a direct descendant of Shariff Kabungsuwan, a Muslim missionary who brought Islam to the Philippines.
