Assessment Notification – Stage 4 Subject: Mathematics Task type: Semester 2 Examination Year: 7 Task Number: 4 Weighting: 30% Date Due: Wednesday Period 3, Day 8, Week 2, 23rd October 2024. Marks: Approx. 55 marks Length of Task 50-minute test Task Description This task is a pen and paper test completed under exam conditions. You will be allowed to use your calculator. Questions must be completed in the space provided using a blue or black pen. Black pen is preferred. Diagrams can be drawn with a pencil and ruler. The test will include questions related to the following working mathematically objectives: Component A (Understanding and Fluency) Component B (Communicating, Problem Solving and Reasoning) If you are absent on the Assessment date, please be prepared to complete the test on the first day you return to school. Please refer to the Stella Maris College Assessment Procedures Stage 4 for Students document that details all procedures relating to assessment tasks. Marking Guidelines Marks for each question will be clearly stated on the test paper. See the table on the next page for a break-down of marks. Support A range of revision documents can be found on MOODLE. You should use your REFERENCE BOOK, WORK BOOK, TEXTBOOK, MOODLE, MATHSPACE, STELLAMATICS and STELLA TUTORS (afterschool in the library) to help revise your work prior to the test. Task Outcomes MAO-WM-01: A students develop understanding and fluency in mathematics through exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying mathematical techniques to solve problems, and communicating their thinking and reasoning coherently and clearly MA4-LEN-C-01: A student applies knowledge of the perimeter of plane shapes and the circumference of circles to solve problems. MA4-RAT-C-01: A student solves problems involving ratios and rates, and analyses distance–time graphs The table below shows the content areas in the test, along with a textbook reference where relevant. Students may need to connect mathematical concepts and communicate clear solutions. TOTAL for Task: out of 55 Please note that the information regarding marks awarded may change slightly. In Mathematics it is important that you have a good understanding of all skills and concepts that you have been taught, as they are necessary for your future learning. The table below gives you some useful tips for this assessment task. This table will be used to give you some feedback once your task has been marked. During the task: Ensure that you have clear and correct Read questions carefully to ensure that setting out you round answers correctly Ensure that you use the “equals” sign Pay attention to units correctly Ensure that only one solution is given Don’t leave any multiple-choice questions clearly unanswered Underline or highlight key words in a Ensure that graphs are drawn carefully, worded question and draw a diagram to with all required features. help you. Use your time wisely – move on and come Check your responses if you have time at back to some questions the end of the test Write with a pen (black or dark blue) Bring the equipment specified on the notification sheet Preparing for a task: Ensure that you complete class If you don’t understand the content homework. Use your reference book to covered in class or homework, don’t just help you complete it. “leave it”- attend Stellamatics sessions at Mark and try to correct your mistakes. lunchtime Additional revision prior to any future task Practice questions are provided on is recommended Moodle.
