JEE (ADVANCED) 2018 JOINT IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE REPORT VOLUME I ORGANIZING INSTITUTE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KANPUR AUGUST 2018 Acknowledgement The successful conduct of JEE (Advanced) 2018 ended with a marked change in the examination system not only for the JEE but for other examinations conducted by other organizations. The JEE (Advanced) 2018 was conducted in a fully computer based test mode for the first time. It was conducted flawlessly and error free with several new features introduced. The successful conduct of JEE (Advanced) 2018 was not possible without the active and unconditional support from Joint Admission Board (JAB) members, Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) members, our colleagues and many other officials in the IITs. There were three JAB Chairmen for JEE (Advanced) 2018, Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur (from 18.04.2018 to 31.08.2018), Professor Manindra Agarwal, Officiating Director, IIT Kanpur (from 06‐11‐2017 to 17.04.2018) and Professor Indranil Manna, Director, IIT Kanpur (from 01.09.2017 to 05‐11‐ 2017) who provided us with their valuable leadership, advice, guidance and support during the entire period of the conduct of JEE (Advanced) 2018 and we would like to give them our heartfelt thanks. We are grateful to all the JAB members for their continuous support, feedback and suggestions. Without the unconditional, continuous and excellent support, planning, discussions, opinions, attitude of selflessly working for the system of all the members of JIC members, it was not possible to conduct any of the examination activities especially changing the examination mode to computer based test for the first time. We would like to thank each and every member of the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC). Several faculty members, technical and administrative staff members of all the IITs helped us in different activities from time to time in the conduct of the examination. We would like to thank all the faculty and staff of all the participating institutions who have helped us in the conduct of JEE (Advanced) 2018. Their dedication and the sleepless nights to ensure that all the jobs are conducted well in time is beyond any compensation. The support from Mr. R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary, HE, MHRD, Government of India and National Informatics Centre, Government of India was helpful in the successful completion of the examination and admission process. The first volume (the present one) contains statistics relating to qualified candidates, category‐wise rank lists, rank wise allocated seats etc. The second volume contains material such as Information Brochure, syllabus, question papers, various guidelines, form booklets etc. The third volume carries the minutes of all JIC, ZJIC and JAB Meetings.
