# Drywall Components and Tools **Corner Bead:** A strip of angled material used on outside corners to create a clean, sharp appearance. A pre-formed angled bead covers rough cut corners. **Decibel (SPL):** A unit measuring sound pressure levels. **Dimple:** A depression in the surface of a wallboard caused by hammering a nail. **Drywall:** Prefabricated sheets of compressed gypsum, used for walls in homes and commercial buildings. Also known as sheetrock. Options include mold/moisture-resistant and paperless drywall. **Drywall Compound:** A white gypsum powder mixed with water to create a mud-like substance, similar to cake frosting. Used to fill and seal joints between drywall sheets, creating a smooth surface for painting. **Drywall Cutter:** A tool used for neatly cutting drywall. Professionals often use utility knives for their versatility. **Drywall Hammer:** A specialized hammer used specifically for working with drywall. **Drywall Insulation:** Glass wool insulation inserted into steel and timber frames to make the drywall soundproof and/or fireproof. **Drywall Paint:** Typically acrylic PVA paint used to paint partitions and ceilings. **Drywall Screws:** Screws specifically designed to fasten plasterboards to studs and tracks. **Drywall Stand:** A specialized stand used to lift plasterboards to the ceiling while installing them, keeping them supported and in place. **Drywall Stilts:** Aluminum stilts used in the finishing of drywall installations. **Drywall Stud:** Used to construct partitions attached to tracks, where plasterboards connect. **Drywall Tape:** Used to cover joints in drywall to seal them and prevent cracking as the drywall ages.
