Uses Flour production, Animal bedding, Straw, Animal feed Soil suitability must be Well-drained Sandy loam or brown earth soil with a pH of 5.5 - 7 (more tolerant than barley) Climate must have Warm temperatures and sunshine it is Grown mainly in southeast of the country Preparation of seed bed is very similar to barley Land is ploughed and harrowed to create a fine seed bed. Time, rate and method of sowing Winter wheat is sown in late September – November Spring wheat is sown in February – March. When sowing wheat Nitrates directive conditions must be applied however Potassium does not have a maximum rate under the directive. Harvest, yield and Storage conditions are the same as barley. - Harvested with a combine harvester Diseases, pests and weed control Leaf Blotch is a fungal disease spread by rain.
