II. III. 7/5/93 7/22/2024 INTRODUCTION A. Purpose: The following Rules and Regulations are intended to provide direction to the members of the Las Vegas Fire Department for their personal conduct or for conducting the affairs of the Department. B. Scope: These Rules and Regulations supersede all previous Rules and Regulations, bulletins, and/or memorandums issued prior to this date. C. Author: These Rules and Regulations may be changed, amended, or replaced by the Fire Chief, or his designee, in conformance with applicable Bargaining Agreements. They are to be considered general in nature and are not all inclusive. RESPONSIBILITY A. Supervisor: It is the responsibility of all supervisors to apply this regulation appropriately and to take such action as necessary to ensure all employees are informed as to its requirements. B. Employee: It is the responsibility of all employees to be familiar with and comply with these procedures. POLICY A. ACTING 1. Any member that has been officially designated to assume temporarily a position of higher responsibilities is expected to fully assume the authority and responsibilities of that higher position. 130.04 Acting Assignments Page 2 of 2 2. Members designated to temporarily assume the position of Fire Battalion Chief, Fire Captain, Fire Engineer, Fire Investigations Supervisor–Bomb Squad, Deputy Fire Marshal, or Communication Specialist Supervisor, shall be selected from the latest certified Civil Service Eligibility Lists. 3. Members shall be given preference for selection for temporary assignment to positions for which they have qualified for evidenced by their being on a current certified Civil Service Eligibility List.
