Lesson 1 Introduction to “Prayers” What are Prayers?  Prayers are a form of “communicatio n” with God.  Prayer is “Spending time”with God.  They can be used to seek comfort, to express gratitude, to ask for guidance, or to request assistance.  “Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God” CCC 2590 2 types of Prayer Formal and Informal Formal Prayer -are based on traditions and teachings. Example: Apostle’s Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary Informal Prayer -are based on experiences and moments in our life. Example: We pray through our own desire in short “OWN PRAYER” To whom do we Pray?  Jesus Christ/God  In the Christian tradition, prayer is primarily directed to “God” Let us always remember that: 1.Prayer is use to communicate with God. 2.When we pray we spend time with Him. Let us always remember that: 3.
