# Fluorescence Microscopy ## Fluorescence * Can reveal the locations of specific molecules within cells by labeling with fluorescent dyes (broad) or antibodies (specific). ## Fluorescent Substances * Absorb light of one wavelength and then emit light at a longer wavelength. ## Immunofluorescence * Instead of using a colored dye that binds to an antibody, immunofluorescence uses a fluorescent dye. * The antibody is specific to a target antigen or protein. * The fluorescent molecule reveals the location of the antigen or protein. ## Multiple Colors * Multiple colors can be used simultaneously. **Note:** An image of a fluorescence microscopy view of cells is included. The image shows cells with various colored structures, likely highlighting different components within the cells.
