Wound Care

• When caring for any type of wound, consider the severity of the wound, pain assessment, and contamination present.
• A decubital ulcer is an example of a chronic wound.

Bandaging

• Signs that a bandage is too tight include swelling above or below the bandage and the patient limping.

Wound Preparation

• Sterile Lubricating Jelly is used during initial wound care to protect the wound and catch fur during shaving.

Sterilization

• Steam under pressure is the agent used for autoclave sterilization.

Anesthesia

• The endotracheal tube is placed in the trachea to deliver inhalant anesthesia.
• The laryngoscope is the equipment used to visualize the laryngeal area during intubation.

Monitoring Equipment

• The EKG machine monitors Heart Rate and Rhythm and produces an electrocardiogram.
• The vaporizer is the part of the anesthesia machine that converts liquid anesthesia to an inhalant gas (vapor).
