Workplace Violence
- Workplace violence can stem from personal vendettas, mental health issues, or societal factors.
- Violence can range from threats to physical assault and homicide.
Types of Violence
- Criminal Intent: Outsourced violence, driven by robbery, theft, or personal grudges.
- Customer/Client-Related Violence: Aggressive behaviour towards staff, often in customer-facing industries.
- Worker-to-Worker Violence: Conflicts between colleagues escalating to verbal or physical altercations.
- Personal Relationship Violence: Conflicts from personal life intruding into the workplace.
Causes
- Conflict and Disputes: Disagreements, power struggles, competition, or different work styles.
- Job-Related Stress: Excessive workloads, unrealistic deadlines, long hours, or job insecurity.
- Personal Issues: Financial difficulties, relationship conflicts, substance abuse, or mental health issues.
