Cadre Restructuring and Approval Authority
- For creating Work Charged post below SAG level, MoR may seek Finance Minister approval.
- For SAG level and above posts, MoR requires Cabinet approval.
- The framework to creating Work Charged posts below SAG level may be expedited between Ministry of Railways (MoR) and Department of Expenditure (DoE) per Finance Minister approval.
Existing Work Charged Post Extensions
- MoF consideration is underway for continuation of 431 JAG & below workcharged posts and as such Railways can extend services under GM powers, as per practices. Currency extensions exist at Zonal level, save for positions at Senior Time Scale (STS), where Railway Board approval is needed.
Proposal Requirements and Submission
- All Railways/PUs should formulate the proposal for extension of currency for DIG/SAG posts as per the outlined yardsticks.
- Proposals should be sent to Board's office no later than April 30, with functional justification, D&G charges/outlay, Finance concurrence, and GM's approval included.
- Board's letter dated 22/02/2021 advises Zonal Railways/PUs to prepare with their proposal for extension of all live positions.
