Wires and Cables

• Wires are conductors with a size of 3.26mm or No.8AWG and smaller.
• Wires consist of a single conductor, typically made of copper or aluminum.
• Cables are larger than wires and consist of two or more insulated wires wrapped in one jacket.
• Stranded wires contain grouped wires twisted to form a metallic string.

Copper or Aluminum Conductors

• Ranges in size from 1.60mm-500mm2 and can be stranded or solid.
• These bare wires are used for overhead transmission lines and ground wires.

Thermoplastic Wires (Type TW)

• Copper wires with a size of 1.60mm-500mm2, available in solid and stranded types.
• They are flame retardant, moisture and oil resistant, and used for building wiring in dry and wet locations.

Heat, Moisture Resistant and Flame Retardant Cable (Type THW)

• Cables often have seven strands of conductors.
• Used for building wiring in dry or wet locations.

Thermoplastic-Covered Fixture Wire (Type TF)

• Ranges in size from 0.60mm-0.30mm2, available in solid and stranded types.
• Used for wiring lighting fixtures and as terminal wires.

Non-Metallic Sheathed Cable (Type NM)

• Solid wires that range in size from 1.60mm-2.60mm and also called "Romex".
• Contains 2 or 3 conductors inside the cable.
• Used for exposed or concealed installation in buildings.

Copper or Aluminum PE Insulated Wire

• Ranging in size from 2.60mm-1,000MCM.
• Weather-resistant wire is used for line wire and primary distribution.

Flat Cord (Type SPT)

• Stranded wire that is 1.02mm-1.60mm in size.
• Has two sets of stranded conductors separated by insulators and is typically used for portable electrical equipment and for extension wiring of a single bulb.

Air Conditioning Unit Safety Cord (Type SPT)

• 1.60mm-2.00mm in size.
• Consists of two conductors and a ground, for wiring A/C units.

Underground Feeder and Branch Circuit Cable (Type UF)

• Size of approximately 1.60mm-11.68mm.
• Jacketed cable used for direct burial wiring installations.

Thermo Plastic Portable Cords (Types SJT & ST)

• Type SJT is 1.02mm-2.05mm while Type ST is 1.02mm-4.11mm.
• Cords consist of 2 to 4 stranded conductors for wiring portable motors and appliances.

Intercom Cable

• 0.65mm in size.
• Shielded or unshielded cable includes 3 conductors to 100 pairs.
• Used for wiring interior communications, system, and sound distribution, and is jacketed.

Telephone Cable (Type CCP)

• Size of 0.40mm-0.91mm
• Installed aerial and duct type for telephone wiring with color-coded conductor insulators.

Submersible Pump Cable

• Size of 1.60mm-11.68mm.
• Thermoplastic insulated cable wired for submersible pumps of deep well water systems.

Hypertemp 2000 Wire (Magnet Wire)

• 0.078mm-4.11mm in size.
• Used for winding motors, oil-filled transformers, high-speed winding, and wet winding operations.

Service Drop Cable

• 4.11 mm – 11.68 mm in size.
• Aluminum conductor with neutral messenger used for a service drop cable.

Armored Cable (Type ACT), (BX)

• 1.60mm-6.54mm in size
• Cable with 2 or 3 conductors used for wiring installation in buildings.

Welding Cable

• Size of 1.29mm-11.68mm
• Flexible portable cable used for electrical arc welding wiring.

Control Cable (Braided Type)

• 1.60mm-2.05mm in size.
• PVC insulated and jacketed multi-conductor cable used for wiring machinery controls.

Temperature Wire (Type HI)

• 1.65mm-5.19mm in size.
• Contains 2 to 4 stranded conductors used for portable cords in electrical equipment.

Telephone Cable (Type ADT)

• 0.65mm in size.
• Consists of 6 pairs through 909 pairs in aerial and duct installations.

Appliance or Electric Heater Cable

• 0.65mm-2.05mm in size.
• Used for wiring cords for heating equipment in dry locations.

Asbestos Covered Nickel Cord (Rockbestos)

• 0.25mm-1.60mm in size.
• Wiring applications include electric ranges, water heaters, stoves, and hairdryers where both heat and moisture resistance is desirable.

Automotive Wire

• Suitable for wiring spark plugs and battery cables in automobiles, trucks, and other vehicles.
