Observe the process of fertilization in plants and changes that take place in a flower after fertilization. Conclude and explain your observation.
The process of fertilization in plants occurs when a pollen grain from a flower is transferred to a stigma, and the pollen tube grows down the style and reaches the ovary at the bottom of the pistil. Once the tube reaches the ovary, it releases sperm cells that fertilize the ovules which develop into seeds. Changes in the flower occur after fertilization, such as the petals/stigmas falling off (withering) and the swelling of the ovary to form the fruit.
