Paris was chosen because it presented a strong candidacy file to the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Other candidate cities (Hamburg, Rome, Budapest, Boston, and Los Angeles) withdrew their bids, but Paris was not selected by default
Paris has several advantages, including:
- Most of the necessary stadiums, pools, and competition venues already exist, reducing the need for expensive construction projects
- The city wants to organize environmentally friendly Games, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from construction and transportation, in line with the Paris climate agreements
