    Where the Red Fern Grows

    "Where the Red Fern Grows" is a popular novel written by Wilson Rawls and published in 1961.     Wilson Rawls

    Wilson Rawls (1913–2003) was an American author born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He attended high school at Central High School in Muskogee but later attended Langston University, where he studied agricultural education. After serving in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946, he became an English teacher and later served as an assistant principal until retirement.

    Rawls wrote several books throughout his life, including "Where the Red Fern Grows", "Summer of the Monkeys," and "The Yearling." Many of his works are set in rural areas of Oklahoma and were inspired by his own experiences growing up there.
