A valid School Driver Eligibility Certificate is required for applicants under 18 and fulfills the WV residency requirement. Home-schooled students need a Home Schooled Eligibility Statement.

The Problem Driver Point System (PDPS) is a national database that tracks violations and suspensions from state to state.

All driver's license applicants, including renewals, are subject to a review of their driving records through the PDPS.

First-time applicants for an instruction permit, driver's license, or identification card must provide proof of Social Security number, identity, and two proofs of WV residency.
