Game and Scoring

• A game of volleyball ends when a team scores 25 points.
• A team can score points when the opposing team makes an error, such as hitting the ball out of bounds or making an illegal play.

Court Violations

• A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row.
• Players must make instantaneous contact with the ball and cannot catch or hold the ball.
• No player can reach over or touch the net, or step over the center line.
• A player can reach under the net to play the ball, but must not touch the floor on the other side of the center line.
• A team can commit an out of rotation violation if they serve out of rotation or are not in rotation during the opposing team's serve.
• A back row player cannot attack the ball over the net.
• A libero is not allowed to attack the ball over the net, overhand set a front row attack, or block.

Net Violations

• A team cannot block a serve, and must allow the opposing team's serve to come over the net.

Basics

• A volleyball team consists of six players, with three players in the front row and three in the back row.
• A game begins with a serve, which must come from behind the end line on the volleyball court.
• Each team is allowed to touch the ball three times before it must return to the other side of the net.
• Points are scored when the ball lands on the opposing team's side of the court, or when the opposing team hits the ball out of bounds.
• If the serving team wins a point, they continue to serve; if they lose the point, the opposing team becomes the servers.
• Teams rotate clockwise when they become the servers, switching one front row player with one back row player.
