    Vertical and Rope Rescue Guidelines

    • The Hoffman Estates Fire Department (HEFD) has Standard Operating Guidelines for Vertical and Rope Rescue operations.
    • In the event of a Technical Rescue incident involving vertical rescue using ropes, a Technical Rescue alarm will be dispatched.
    • The Technical Rescue response will include HEFD and MABAS Division 1 TRS Technicians.
    • The Incident Commander is responsible for supervising the overall operation and determining if additional resources are needed.
    • If additional resources are needed, the alarm will be upgraded to a Code 4 and then to a HEFD MABAS Box Alarm #17 (Technical Rescue).
