Version Upgrade Sales Event

  • Used for scenarios where a customer wants to upgrade the version of their existing product asset.
  • The user selects the new version using the Advanced Configurator.

Process for Version Locked Products

  • Applies only to products that are version locked.
  • Customers cannot apply their own updates by downloading patches from SLD.
  • Within the Configure Products screen, the user:
    • Decrements the quantity of the existing product SKU to 0.
    • Adds the new version product SKU to the Quote, with required quantity and pricing.

Version Upgrade Fee

  • A 20% charge for every major version of the product list price is added to the Quote.
  • Applied via a separate Version Upgrade Fee line, manually priced by the Sales Rep.
  • One Version Upgrade Fee line is added for each applicable product if multiple version locked products are being upgraded on a Quote.

Partial or Full Version Upgrade

  • Customers can request a partial or full version upgrade.
  • Full version upgrade involves migrating the entire quantity on a particular Quote line to the new product version (e.g. 10/10).

Product Upgrade

  • A sales event used to upgrade a customer's existing product on their Service Contract to an alternative newer product.

Scenarios for Product Upgrade

  • Trade-Ins: swapping an existing license entitlement for a different Micro Focus solution.
  • Product transitions: upgrading from one product to another.

Amendment Process for Product Upgrade

  • Decrement the quantity of the existing line on the Quote to zero.
