UTI PGD Service - NENC ICS
- This service is for females aged 16-65
- NHS provides ~110 million urgent same-day patient contacts annually, with ~85 million being urgent GP appointments
- Community pharmacy services play a role in self-care for minor ailments (reducing avoidable GP visits)
- Aims to enable supplies of POMs by community pharmacies
- Prevent premature deaths, enhance quality of life, help recovery from illness/injury, and ensure positive care experiences in a safe environment
- The service aims to provide eligible patients access to UTI medication via community pharmacies contracted to PSNE
- The service will be provided by community pharmacies commissioned by the NENC Integrated Care System/Board
- Improve access and choice for people with minor ailments needing FP10 prescriptions
- Increase the scope of minor illnesses treatable by community pharmacists
- Utilise community pharmacy 7-day and out-of-hours services
- Ensure consistent clinical pathways across the NENC ICS/B

- Pharmacists must fulfil their defined e-learning goals on PharmOutcomes (consultation skills, sepsis, safeguarding level 2, antimicrobial stewardship)
- Any complaints are initially directed to the provider's complaints procedure, with escalation to the NG CCG Customer Services Team if unresolved.
- The PGD has clinical criteria for inclusion and exclusion
- NHS England commissioned Community Pharmacy Consultation Service is not replaced, but an additional/alternative option in cases of clinical appropriateness
