National Park Service Establishment
- The National Park Service (NPS) was established on August 25, 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic Act
- The act created the NPS as a federal agency responsible for protecting and managing national parks and monuments
- The NPS was tasked with promoting and regulating the use of national parks, as well as preserving their natural and cultural resources
Wilderness Preservation
- The Wilderness Act of 1964 established the National Wilderness Preservation System (NWPS)

Theodore Roosevelt's Conservation Efforts
