- Members of the House of Representatives are chosen every two years.
- To be a member of the House of Representatives, a person must be at least 25 years old, a US citizen for at least 7 years, and live in the state they represent.
- When the Constitution was written, enslaved people were not counted in a state's population.
- "All other persons" counted as three-fifths of a person meant enslaved people were partially counted for representation.
- A census is held every 10 years.
- Each state gets at least one representative.
