    • Non-invasive specimen collection: Less than 103 CFU/ml
    • Invasive specimen collection: Less than 102 CFU/ml

Urine Culture - Significant Bacteriuria (Adults)

    • Midstream Urine:
      • Complicated UTI: Greater than or equal to 105 CFU/ml
      • Recurrent UTI (women): Greater than or equal to 105 CFU/ml
      • Upper UTI with symptoms (no complications): Greater than or equal to 104 CFU/ml
      • Lower UTI with symptoms (men and women): Greater than or equal to 103 CFU/ml

Urine Culture - Significant Bacteriuria (Catheter-Collected Urine - Adults)

    • UTI with symptoms: Greater than or equal to 103 CFU/ml
    • UTI without symptoms: Greater than or equal to 105 CFU/ml

Urine Culture - Significant Bacteriuria (Children)

    • Catheter or suprapubic bladder puncture: Greater than or equal to 5 x 104 CFU/ml
    • Catheter or suprapubic bladder puncture AND pyuria in children 2-24 months old: Greater than or equal to 5 x 104 CFU/ml
