Computer Essentials

  • ICT and types of ICT Services: ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is a general term for digital technology used to access, store, and process information.Different ICT services include Internet services (e.g., online banking, shopping), mobile technology, and office productivity applications (e.g., word processors, spreadsheets).
  • Definition of Computer: A computer is an electronic device that manipulates data by storing, retrieving, and processing it.
  • Hardware vs. Software: Computer parts fall into two categories: hardware and software.
    • Hardware: Physical components of a computer (e.g., monitor, keyboard, mouse, motherboard, CPU, RAM).
    • Software: Instructions and programs that tell the computer what tasks to perform (e.g., operating systems, applications).

Computer Parts
