Combination Fishplates and Sleepers

There are four types of sleepers: wooden, cast iron, steel trough, and concrete sleepers.

Composite sleepers are being introduced in specific locations, such as girder bridges, points, and crossings.

Concrete Sleepers

Indian Railways predominantly use mono-block pre-stressed concrete (PSC) sleepers.
PSC sleepers provide longitudinal and lateral stability required for LWR and are suitable for mechanized tamping.
