Horse/stallion = Intact male 5 years old or older Colt = Intact male less than 5 years old Gelding = Neutered male of any age Rig/Ridgling = Cryptorchid male (even if surgically removed)

Weanling = Either sex--weaning to 12 months Filly = Female less than 5 years old Foal = Either sex from birth to weaning Yearling = Either sex--12-23 months

Mare = Female 5 years or older Maiden = A horse of either sex that has not won a competition or had a foal Hand = Measurement for a horses height, 1 of them =4" Horse = Generic term for any equine
