Furthermore, Devanagari uses an elaborate set of punctuation marks, including various types of dots, dashes, and parentheses.

Over time, Devanagari underwent several changes to fit modern needs. The original script was designed to write Sanskrit, a language that doesn't include consonant clusters. However, Hindi includes numerous consonant clusters, leading to the development of a new system called 'Nukta' (ँ) which is added before the consonant to represent the cluster.

Devanagari also adopted new symbols to represent English and Urdu words, such as the use of 'kha' (ख) to represent 'kh' and 'gha' (घ) to represent 'gh.' This adaptation allowed Hindi to embrace foreign words and maintain a consistent script.
