What are Questions?
- A sentence worded to elicit information.
Types of Questions
- Yes/No
- WH questions
- Open-ended
- Close-ended
WH Questions
- Who: Asks for identification of a person or entity.
- What: Asks for information about a thing, concept, or action.
- When: Asks for a specific time or date.
- Where: Asks for a location.
- Why: Asks for a reason or explanation.
- How: Asks for a method or process.
Examples of WH Questions
- Who: J.K. Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter series.
- What: The main character of Cinderella is Cinderella.
- When: The next Summer Olympics will be held in Paris in 2024.
- Where: The Capital of Australia is Canberra.
- Why: To conserve resources and reduce waste.

Five Types of Questions
- Real question on the topic that you know the answer to: A genuine inquiry about a topic where the asker knows the answer.
- Real question on the topic that you don't know: A genuine inquiry about a topic where the asker does not know the answer.
- Question outside of the scope of the conversation: A question that is irrelevant to the current discussion.
- “Question” that is a comment: A statement disguised as a question.
- Question in bad faith: A question asked with the intention to mislead or provoke.
