- 8 international developmental goals set by 189 countries in 2000 as a result of the United Nations Millennium Summit
- The Philippines was one of the countries that signed the declaration

MDG 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger
- Decrease poverty
- Achieve decent employment for women, men, and young people
MDG 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education
