What are Assessed in the Classroom?

• Content Standards:
  • Define what learners should know and understand.
  • Consist of a sequence of topics within learning strands, domains, themes, or components.
• Performance Standards:
  • Describe the abilities and skills learners are expected to demonstrate in relation to content standards, integrating 21st-century skills.
  • Examples include:
    • What learners can do with what they know.
    • How well learners must perform their work.
    • How well learners use their learning in different situations.
    • How learners apply their learning in real-life contexts.
    • Tools and measures learners use to demonstrate knowledge.
• Learning Competences:
  • Include the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes learners need to demonstrate in every lesson or learning activity.
• Concept Development:
  • Tracks the progression of concept development in a learner.
  • Includes cognitive processes from basic to complex, such as remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating.
